Project: Mezzanine Floor Extension and refurbishment of existing offices

Scope: Following a thorough consultation and design process, lasting almost a year, Paradigm Interiors were delighted to be appointed as the preferred contractor by M&J Group, one of the largest specialist construction companies in the UK, for the expansion and refurbishment of their head office in Bedford.

With a brief to redesign, extend and refurbish the existing offices, along with the installation of a bespoke mezzanine floor extension, new mechanical, electrical and data infrastructures to accommodate future growth and the expansion of the business.

The project incorporated the reconfiguration of the existing and the creation of new, cellular and open plan workspaces, the conception and installation of new kitchens, breakout and circulation spaces, and the construction of a new Gymnasium area which was fully air conditioned and mechanically ventilated to meet with all current Building Regulations to suit the space created.

Works were completed over 2 phases to accommodate the continued occupation and operational status of the business, and, notwithstanding some Bonafide variations that were requested by the client and some inherently unknown challenges that were determined as a result of the original construction of the building, all works were completed and handed over on time and within the clients original budgetary expectations.

Following on from the completion of the works carried out on behalf of M&J Group, Paradigm were subsequently approached on a referral basis by the existing Chief Executive of the organisation to carry out an additional project on behalf of the former Chief Executive, which we were excited to bring to fruition in a similar successful manner.

"In 2024 M&J Construction engaged Paradigm Interiors as main contractor to manage the fit out and refurbishment at our head office in Bedford.

Whilst, at face value, the works were a straightforward refurbishment and fit out, the brief extended to a considerable project including M&E and fire rating works, and intricacies of design and installation in order to overcome some of the constraints imposed upon us by the limitations of our own building. All the sub-contractors instructed by Wayne and the team at Paradigm were exemplary in their standard of work and attention to detail, treating our project with the diligence and care that reflects our own ethos of "Building With Integrity and Delivering For The Future”.

Paradigm were able to co-ordinate a complex schedule of works mediating between various contractors and our own team which, on occasion, required delicate diplomacy and careful co-ordination to ensure that disruption was minimised, but a quality installation and critical timescales were still met.
